<br />SECTION 16 - DISCIPLINARY ACTIONS - NON-CML SERVICE <br /> <br />SECTION 16.01- Purpose <br /> <br />The rules, regulations, policies and benefits set out in the City of Paris Personnel Policies are designed <br />to help achieve the objectives set out in Section 1.1. Violation of personnel policies unnecessarily <br />limits the City's ability to achieve these objectives and can create liability. Therefore, any violation <br />of the City's Personnel Policies could result in disciplinary action up to and including dismissal. <br /> <br />SECTION 16.02 - Types of Disciplinary Actions <br /> <br />Employees are subject to the following potential disciplinary actions based on the nature of the offense: <br /> <br />· Verbal warning to the employee (should be documented but maintained in the <br />department's personnel file); <br /> <br />· Written warning to the employee with a copy placed in the employee's Master personnel file; <br /> <br />· Denial or delay of individual pay increase or suspension without pay with a copy of the <br />suspension placed in the employee's Master personnel file; or <br /> <br />· Reduction in pay within approved grade or salary range, demotion or discharge with a copy <br />of the action placed in the employee's Master personnel file. <br /> <br />When appropriate, progressive discipline will be applied. <br /> <br />SECTION 16.03 - Basis for Disciplinary Actions <br /> <br />Disciplinary action, up to and including termination, may be taken against an employee for job related <br />improper behavior including but not limited to: <br /> <br />A. Illegal, unethical, abusive or unsafe acts; <br />B. Violation of City or departmental rules, regulations, policies or procedures; <br />C. Insubordination, inefficiency, incompetence, neglect or abandonment of duties; <br />D. Abuse of sick leave, military leave, funeral leave or injury leave; <br />E. Willful discourtesy while on duty; <br />F. Tardiness or absence without authorization; <br />G. Falsification of official documents or records; <br /> <br />46 <br /> <br />Revised 01-25-05 <br />
