<br />SPECIAL MEETING <br />OF THE CITY COUNCIL, CITY OF PARIS <br />November 20, 2006 <br /> <br />The City Council ofthe City of Paris met for a special meeting at 6:00 P. M. Monday, <br />November 20,2006, at the City Council Chamber, 107 E. Kaufman, Paris, Texas. <br /> <br />Present: <br /> <br />Mayor: <br /> <br />Richard Manning <br /> <br />Council Members: Curtis Fendley; Mary Ann Fisher, Mayor <br />Pro Tern; Kevin Gray; and Don Wilson <br /> <br />City Staff: <br /> <br />Tony N. Williams, City Manager; John <br />Lestock, Assistant City Attorney; and <br />Janice Ellis, City Clerk <br /> <br />Absent: <br /> <br />Council Members: Tim Ray and Jesse James Freelen <br /> <br />1. Mayor Manning called the meeting to order. <br /> <br />George Fisher gave the invocation. <br /> <br />2. Pledge of Allegiance. <br /> <br />Council Member Fendley led the pledge. <br /> <br />3. Interview applicants for the position of City Attorney. <br /> <br />A. W. Kent Mcllyar <br />B. John Lestock <br /> <br />Tony Williams informed Council staff had advertised with five organizations and <br />received nineteen applicants. Advertising took place over a period of four months. Tony told <br />Council out of the total number of applicants, six applicants had municipal experience. After <br />checking references, that list was narrowed down to three applicants. One of the three <br />applicants withdrew his application, because he accepted another job. <br /> <br />City Council interviewed Kent Mcllyar and John Lestock for the City Attorney <br />position. City Council decided to place a discussion and action item with regard to hiring a <br />City Attorney on the Agenda for November 27,2006. <br /> <br />r' <br />
