Department - PROFILE Budget: $600,000 (Operating) Staff: 4 Reports to: Economy Development Cabinet Secretary and Chief of Staff JOB PROFILE - Commissioner Executive position within the State of Kentucky's Economic Development Cabinet. Candidates should be qualified to lead efforts to establish a technology based economy in the Commonwealth in biotechnology (natural products), life sciences, energy and environment, advanced manufacturing, information technology and in safety and security; oversee a statewide system of regional economic development initiatives designed to link investors, universities, and entrepreneurs to enhance the region's economic development; work closely with the Commonwealth's two major research universities in the commercialization of their research; and to assist the Secretary of the Economic Development Cabinet in the recruitment and retention of technology based companies RESPONSIBILITIES . Aggressively promote Kentucky in New Economy Markets . Generate suspects and prospects that result injob creation and capital investment. . Establish and maintain close working relationships with the major research universities. . Create a climate that will maximize positive economic growth through creative leadership. .
