<br />MINUTES OF THE REGULAR <br />MEETING OF THE <br />MAIN STREET ADVISORY BOARD <br /> <br />December 20, 2006 <br />City Hall Council Chambers <br />107 East Kaufman Street <br />3:00 p.m. <br /> <br />A meeting of the members of the Paris Main Street Advisory Board was held Wednesday, December <br />20, 2006 at 3:00 p.m., at City Hall Council Chambers. Casey Rose, Chairman, presided. <br /> <br />PRESENT: Jennifer Long (Vice Chairman) ABSENT: <br />Cindy Allcorn <br />Matt Coyle (Alt.) <br />Lisa House <br />Zach Saffle <br />Walt Brown <br /> <br />Linda Knox <br />Drew Crawford (Alt.) <br />Pike Burkhart (Alt.) <br />Karol Lyn Moore (Alt.) <br /> <br />Others present included Becky Semple, Director, V&CC and Ann Gilliland, Holiday in Paris Chair. <br /> <br />November 15, 2006 minutes were reviewed by advisory board members and a motion was made by <br />Walt Brown to approve the minutes as prepared. Jennifer Long seconded and minutes were <br />unanimously approved. <br /> <br />Organization Committee Report - No report given at this time. <br /> <br />Promotions Committee Report - Walt Brown reported on the 1 sl Annual Holiday in Paris event held <br />the first two weekends of December. Walt reported on the Art Walk. He stated we had 12 Art Walk <br />participants located both on and off the square. Art walk venues were connected by luminaries so <br />that visitors were able to find the locations off the square. Art walk maps were also distributed prior <br />to and during the event. Becky Semple reported on the Paris Area Arts Alliance's Christmas Village. <br />The Arts Alliance reported $1041.00 in bids for trees auctioned during the event. Becky also reported <br />that $500.00 profit was made from the carriage rides. The Downtown Merchants Association donated <br />$500.00 to Holiday in Paris to pay for the first weekend of the carriage rides. Another Downtown <br />Merchant paid for the advertising on I-30. Many out of town visitors (Denver, Houston, <br />Fredericksburg, McKinney, and Texarkana) attended the event. There were hundreds of people <br />downtown both weekends. Art was sold, restaurants busy, merchants busy. It was a very successful <br />weekend in Downtown Paris. Ann Gilliland reported that the HIP group would meet in January to <br />begin planning next year's event. Ann said she heard wonderful comments from various members of <br />the community and Bonnie Neely had written a letter to the editor praising the efforts of the HIP <br />coordinators. Several garden clubs donated funds to Main Street to help pay for holiday decorations. <br />12 new light pole banners were purchased and new ribbon for the wreaths that hang on the fountain. <br />The collaboration was unique.
