RESOLUTION N0. 2007-014 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, LAMAR COUNTY, TEXAS, ACCEPTING A GRANT AWARD FOR A JUSTICE ASSISTANCE GRANT PROGRAM (JAG) FOR THE LAMAR COUNTY FELONY CRIMES UNIT; MAKING OTHER FINDINGS AND PROVISIONS RELATED TO THE SUBJECT; AND DECLARING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Paris did heretofore in Resolution No.2006-036, on February27, 2006, authorize an application to be made to the United Stated Department of Justice, Bureau of Justice Assistance for a local law enforcement grant; and, WHEREAS, the United Stated Department of Justice, Bureau of Justice Assistance has issued its Grant Award, entitled, "Justice Assistance Grant" for the year beginning 10/01/2006, ending 08/31/2007, in the total amount of $227,999.00 requiring a matching contribution from the City of $27,134.00; and, WHEREAS, acceptance of the Grant Award must occur within thirty (30) days of the date said award was granted or thirty days from January 24, 2007; and WHEREAS, the Chief of the Paris Police Department and his staff, have reviewed the grant award and determined that these funds can be used to improve the Lamar County Felony Crimes Unit in the City of Paris and recommend that the City accept the grant; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, PARIS, TEXAS: Section 1. That the findings set out in the preamble of this resolution are hereby in all things approved. Section 2. That the Justice Assistance Grant, No. PI-04-A 10-18226-01 for the year beginning 10/01/2006, and ending 08/31/2007, in the total amount of $227,999.00 and requiring a matching contribution of $27,134.00 from the City, is in the best interest of the City of Paris and its Citizens, and the same is hereby accepted. Section 3. That the City Manager of the City of Paris be, and he is hereby authorized and directed to execute on behalf of the City of Paris, the Grant Acceptance Notice in the form of Exhibit A attached hereto.
