<br />DRAFT <br /> <br />f:attomey\reswork\current\ Trails de Paris Grant App Res <br />April 17, 2007 <br /> <br />RESOLUTION NO. <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, <br />TEXAS, APPROVING AN APPLICATION FOR A RECREATIONAL <br />TRAILS GRANT THROUGH THE TEXAS PARKS & WILDLIFE <br />DEPARTMENT RECREATION GRANTS BRANCH TO EXTEND THE <br />TRAIL DE PARIS EAST A DISTANCE OF APPROXIMATELY 0.8 <br />MILES; MAKING OTHER FINDINGS AND PROVISIONS RELATED TO <br />THE SUBJECT; AND DECLARING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Texas Parks & Wildlife Department provides funding for <br />Recreational Trails Grants; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City of Paris has an opportunity to apply for a $100,000.00 grant to <br />extend the Trail de Paris east a distance of approximately 0.8 miles from its current <br />termination at U.S. 271 and Loop 286 Interchange along the old railroad right-of-way; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Paris is desirous of processing a grant <br />application for the Trail de Paris Extension Project-2008, which is an 80/20 grant with <br />$100,000.00 to be provided by grant and $25,000.00 to be provided by the City of Paris in the <br />form of the value of the land which is appraised at $114,000.00; <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE <br />CITY OF PARIS, PARIS, TEXAS: <br /> <br />Section 1. That the findings set out in the preamble of this resolution are hereby in all <br />things approved. <br /> <br />Section 2. That an application be made to the Texas Parks & Wildlife Department for <br />a Recreational Trails Grant in the amount of $100,000.00, being approximately 80% of the <br />estimated cost of the Trail de Paris Extension Project-2008, with the City of Paris providing <br />$25,000 in the form of the value of the land which is appraised at $114,000.00. <br /> <br />Section 3. That the City Manager of the City of Paris, be, and he is hereby appointed <br />as the Authorized Official of said project and is authorized and directed to execute on behalf <br />of the City of Paris the application for grant in the form attached hereto as Exhibit A. <br /> <br />Section 4. That the City Engineer/Public Works Director, be, and he is hereby <br />appointed as Project Director and is authorized to execute and deliver on behalf of the City <br />of Paris all reports, communications, assurances, and documents necessary for the completion <br />of said project. <br />
