RESOLUTION N0. 2007-047 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, TEXAS, APPROVING AN APPLICATION FOR A RECREATIONAL TRAILS GRANT THROUGH THE TEXAS PARKS & WILDLIFE DEPARTMENT RECREATION GRANTS BRANCH TO EXTEND THE TRAIL DE PARIS EAST A DISTANCE OF APPROXIMATELY 0.8 MILES; MAKING OTHER FINDINGS AND PROVISIONS RELATED TO THE SUBJECT; AND DECLARING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, the Texas Parks & Wildlife Department provides funding for Recreational Trails Grants; and, WHEREAS, the City of Paris has an opportunity to apply fora $100,000.00 grant to extend the Trail de Paris east a distance of approximately 0.8 miles from its current termination at U.S. 271 and Loop 286 Interchange along the old railroad right-of way; and, WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Paris is desirous of processing a grant application for the Trail de Paris Extension Project-2008, which is an 80/20 grant with $100,000.00 to be provided by grant and $25,000.00 to be provided by the City of Paris in the form of the value of the land which is appraised at $114,000.00; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, PARIS, TEXAS: Section 1. That the findings set out in the preamble of this resolution are hereby in all things approved. Section 2. That an application be made to the Texas Parks & Wildlife Department for a Recreational Trails Grant in the amount of $100,000.00, being approximately 80% of the estimated cost of the Trail de Paris Extension Project-2008, with the City of Paris providing $25,000 in the form of the value of the land which is appraised at $114,000.00. Section 3. That the City Manager of the City of Paris, be, and he is hereby appointed as the Authorized Official of said proj ect and is authorized and directed to execute on behalf of the City of Paris the application for grant in the form attached hereto as Exhibit A. Section 4. That the City Engineer/Public Works Director, be, and he is hereby appointed as Project Director and is authorized to execute and deliver on behalf of the City ofParis all reports, communications, assurances, and documents necessary forthe completion of said project. Section 5. That the Director of Finance, be, and he is hereby authorized and directed to serve as the Financial Officer for said project and to receive and distribute funds for purposes of the Trails De Paris Extension Project-2008.
