RESOLUTION <br />GREATER PARIS DEVELOPMENT FOUNDATION <br />This resolution shall serve as a commitment and endorsement of the Greater Paris Development Foundation to <br />authorize the Trail de Paris to utilize the former Union Pacific Railroadright-of--way as conveyed to the Foundation <br />through a Donative Deed by the Union Pacific and placed in the Rail Banking Program through the Rails to Trails <br />Conservancy approximately one mile from inside Loop 286 to the eastern city limits of the City of Paris and will be <br />donated to the City of Paris. <br />WHEREAS, the Trail de Paris has proved to be a tremendous asset to the Paris <br />community and the County of Lamar for alternative transportation, recreation <br />and community access; and <br />WHEREAS, community betterment through transportation, recreation and <br />health is a primary objective of the Foundation; and <br />WHEREAS, the Trail de Paris has always fulfilled its obligation and <br />commitments to provide a quality bike/pedestrian trail for the citizenry of <br />Lamar County; and <br />WHEREAS, the extension of the trail utilizing the Union Pacific right-of-way will <br />make it even more accessible and accommodating to residents and visitors to this <br />northeast Texas area; and <br />WHEREAS, the extension of this trail will enhance the quality of life for all area <br />residents not only as an asset but an attraction for visitors and future residents; <br />NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Greater Paris Development <br />Foundation endorses and supports the Trail de Paris and commits uninhibited <br />use and access to the Union Pacific Right-Of-Way from inside Loop 286 to the <br />eastern city limits of the City of Paris, approximately one mile and if the Trail is <br />selected by the Texas Department of Transportation STEP enhancement for <br />funding will be donated to the City of Paris, <br />PASSED AND ADOPTED this 6th day of April, 2006. <br />Ed Ellis, President <br />,~~~ ,~ <br />,' . <br />Pat M.
