A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, TEXAS, CANVASSING THE RETURNS FROM THE MAY 12, 2007 CITY- WIDE SPECIAL ELECTION ON THE PROPOSED AMENDMENTS TO THE CHARTER OF THE CITY OF PARIS; MAKING OTHER FINDINGS AND PROVISIONS RELATED TO THE SUBJECT; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, on the 25th day of January, 2007, the City Council of the City of Paris passed Resolution No. 2007-015, ordering a special city-wide municipal election for the City of Paris to be held on May 12,2007, for all qualified voters of the City of Paris, for the purpose of voting on proposed amendments to the Charter of the City of Paris; and, WHEREAS, on May 12, 2007, pursuant to prior Resolution No. 2007-015, a special city-wide election was held in the City of Paris, Texas at which qualified voters were given the opportunity to vote for or against seventy (70) proposed amendments to the Charter of the City of Paris; and, WHEREAS, in accordance with the March 15, 1976 Order issued by the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Texas, in Civil Action No. P-75-3-CA, and as provided by the Paris City Charter and the laws of the State of Texas, such election was conducted and held at the specified and designated polling places for all seven (7) Voting Districts in the City of Paris and early voting was conducted at the City Annex, 150 pt Street N.E., from April 30 through May 8, 2007; and, WHEREAS, sealed returns of said election for all seven (7) Districts, made by the duly appointed and designated election officials of and for the respective voting districts, having been made to the Mayor and City Council of the City of Paris, as required by law, which returns after due and deliberate review and canvass thereof, show the results as summarized herein; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, TEXAS: Section 1. That the findings set out in the preamble to this resolution are hereby in all things approved. Section 2. That on May 12, 2007 a special election was held city-wide in all seven (7) Voting Districts of the City of Paris, Texas, with early voting conducted from April 30, 2007 through May 8, 2007, for the purpose of submitting to the qualified voters of the City of Paris proposed amendments to the Charter of the City of Paris; the form of the propositions and a tabulation of the votes cast are as follows: -1- 'r--
