<br />REGULAR MEETING <br />OF THE CITY COUNCIL, CITY OF PARIS <br />July 9, 2007 <br /> <br />The City Council of the City of Paris met for a regular session at 6:00 P. M. Monday, July 9, <br />2007, at the City Council Chamber, 107 E. Kaufman, Paris, Texas. <br /> <br />Present: <br /> <br />Mayor: <br /> <br />Jesse James Freelen <br /> <br />Council Members: Mary Ann Fisher; Don Wilson; Stephen <br />Brown; Kevin Gray and Bill Strathern <br /> <br />City Staff: Kent McIlyar, City Attorney and Janice Ellis, <br />City Clerk <br /> <br />Absent: Council Member: Will Biard <br /> <br />City Staff <br /> <br />Ernie Clark; Interim City Manager <br /> <br />1. Mayor Preelen called the meeting to order. <br /> <br />Gene Anderson gave the invocation. <br /> <br />2. Pledge of Allegiance. <br /> <br />Council Member Fisher led the pledge. <br /> <br />3. Recognize Paris Police Officer Mike Bankston who received commendation from the Police <br />Chief. <br /> <br />Mayor Freelen and Council gave recognition to Mike Bankston for his outstanding work on <br />a case, in which he located a missing thirteen year old girl. <br /> <br />4. Receipt of report from the Planning & Zoning Commission. <br /> <br />A. Public Hearing to consider the petition of Mehul Patel for a change in zoning from a <br />Planned Development District (PD-a) Retail Shopping Center to a Planned <br />Development District (PD-al) Commercial Center on Part of Lot 7, City Block 318, <br />being number 3025 Loop 286 NE. <br /> <br />Mayor Freelen opened the public hearing and asked for anyone speaking in favor of <br />this item to do so. Mehul Patel spoke in support of this item and stated the plan was to build <br />a Holiday Inn Express. Mayor Freelen asked for anyone speaking against this item to do so. <br />With no one else speaking, Mayor Freelen closed the public hearing. <br /> <br />B.
