<br />Paris Visitors & Convention Council <br />Minutes of the Meeting <br />January 31, 2007 <br /> <br />Present: Roy Gwinn, Mike Patterson, Jon McFadden, Bobby Walters, <br />Richard Manning, Becky Semple, Mindy Moree, Rodney Bass, Tim <br />Masters, Emily O'Connor, Brady Fisher, Derald Bulls, Ernie Clark, <br />George Kimbrough, Dave Johnson and Jamie Fussell. <br />Chairman Richard Manning called the meeting to order at 4:05 PM. <br />Chairman Manning welcomed Ernie Clark, Interim City Manager, <br />Dave Johnson, representing East Texas Broadcasting and Jamie <br />Fussell from the Paris News. <br /> <br />Mindy Moree gave the financial report for the month ending <br />December 31,2006. The financials were approved on a motion by <br />Bobby Walters, seconded by George Kimbrough. <br /> <br />Unfinished Business: None <br /> <br />New Business: 1. Minutes from the last council meeting were <br />approved on a motion made by Rodney Bass seconded by Mike <br />Patterson. <br />2. There was an events funding request by the Breakfast Optimist for <br />the Dixie Youth State Tournament for $4000. The events sub <br />committee recommended funding $2075. The recommendation was <br />approved on a motion by Bobby Walters, seconded by George <br />Kimbrough. <br />3. The American Heritage Coon Hunters Association requested $1200 <br />for the rental of the Red River Valley Fairgrounds as host site for <br />their event. Bobby Walters made a motion that the $1200 be granted <br />for the event and the motion passed on a seconded by Brady Fisher. <br />4. Rodney Bass reported that the PEDe Board has decided to not <br />renew the current contract with Millennium Outdoor Advertising on <br />the Paris billboard on 130. Mr. Bass asked the board if it would be <br />possible for the funds to get a new billboard in a different location to <br />come from the tourism budget. After much discussion a sub <br />committee was formed with Derald Bulls, Rodney Bass, Jon <br />McFadden, Mike Patterson and Mary Faber to explore the options as <br />well as possible locations for the billboard. <br />
