<br />RESOLUTION NO.
<br />
<br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS,
<br />TEXAS, APPOINTMENT MEMBERS TO THE BOARD OF
<br />DIRECTORS OF THE ARK- TEX COUNCIL OF GOVERNMENTS;
<br />MAKING OTHER FINDINGS AND PROVISIONS RELATED TO THE
<br />SUBJECT; AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
<br />
<br />WHEREAS, on September 8, 1969, the City Council of the City of Paris did heretofore,
<br />by Resolution No. 1330, join the Ark-Tex Council of Governments; and,
<br />
<br />WHEREAS, in accordance with the Bylaws of the Ark - T ex Council of Governments, its
<br />Board of Directors shall be composed of members elected or appointed by its membership; and,
<br />
<br />WHEREAS, the City Council is entitled to appoint three of its members to serve on the
<br />Board of Directors of the Ark-Tex Council of Governments, as provided in said Bylaws; and,
<br />
<br />WHEREAS, the terms of office of Mary Ann Fisher, and Jesse James Freelen, as
<br />members of the Board of Directors of the Ark - T ex Council of Governments, expired on May 31,
<br />2007; and,
<br />
<br />WHEREAS, there exists another vacancy in the City's representation on the Board of
<br />Directors of the Ark- Tex Council of Governments due to Richard Manning no longer being a
<br />member of the City Council, and it is necessary to appoint his successor; and,
<br />
<br />WHEREAS, the Mayor of the City of Paris does hereby recommend the (re )appointment
<br />of[NAME(S)] [and the appointment of [NAME(S)]] for (a) term(s) of one (I) year, beginning June
<br />1,2007, and ending May 31,2008, or for as long as (he/she/they) (is/are) (a) member(s) of the City
<br />Council, or until (his/her/their) successor(s) (is/are) duly appointed; and,
<br />
<br />WHEREAS, the Mayor does also hereby recommend the appointment by the Board of
<br />Directors of the Ark - T ex Council of Governments of to serve as a member of the
<br />Executive Committee of the Ark - T ex Council of Governments;
<br />
<br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
<br />CITY OF PARIS, TEXAS.
<br />
<br />Section 1. That the findings set out in the preamble to this resolution are hereby in all
<br />things approved.
<br />
<br />Section 2. That the City Council has received and reviewed the recommendations of the
<br />Mayor for the Ark- Tex Council of Governments and hereby approves and appoints the following
<br />persons to serve on the Ark- Tex Council of Governments.
<br />
<br />Section 3. That [NAME(S)] be, and (he/she/they) (is/are) hereby, (re )appointed, [and
<br />that [NAME(S)] be, and (he/she/they) (is/are) appointed] to serve as (a) member(s) ofthe Board of
<br />Directors of the Ark-Tex Council of Governments for (a) term(s) of one (1) year, beginning June I,
<br />2007, and ending May 31, 2008, or for as long as (he/she/they) (is/are) (a) member(s) of the City
<br />Council, or until (his/her/their) successor(s) (is/are) duly appointed; and,
