Leadership Lamar County
Class of 2006-2007

August 15,2007

Dear City Council Members,

I write this letter with great excitement as our class of Leadership Lamar County is hard at work
on our class project- construction of a lighted walking track and large open-air pavilion at Leon
Williams Park. When the city council approved our project last December with a 7-0 unanimous
vote, we began to embark on a mission that we believe will trigger a revitalization of the entire
neighborhood.

Since that time, I am happy to report to you that we have raised approximately $30,000. The
total cost of the project to be completed at the bare minimum will be approximately $45,000. On
behalf of Leadership Lamar County, we would like to invite the city to participate financially
with us through a donation of at least $15,000 or a match of at least 50% on the funds that we
have already raised in order that we may make the improvements to one of the city's largest
public parks. Your support will make our project a success.

Campbell Soup has adopted the city park, pouring more than $50,000 of renovations into it over
the past several years, including a $20,000 grant for our current project. We have also been
fortunate to receive support from various businesses, organizations, and individuals in our
community who share our passion to make our home town a better place for all.

However, the support from the city is crucial. Most grants for which we attempt to apply have as
a requirement that there is a demonstration of financial support shown by the city governance,
and thus your support is vital in making our project eligible to receive additional grant funding in
the future.

Please feel free to contact me on my cell at 903-517-7701 if you have any questions or need
additional information.

Thanks for your support.

Sincerely,

9ct

Kenneth Rogers Jr.

President, Class of 2007
Leadership Lamar County
