ORDINANCE N0. 2007-015 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, TEXAS, INCREASING THE RATE OF SPEED ON 7TA STREET NW FROM WEST CAMPBELL STREET TO WEST HENDERSON STREET FROM TWENTY (20) TO THIRTY (30) MILES PER HOUR; PROVIDING FOR A FINE NOT TO EXCEED ~200.00; MAKING OTHER FINDINGS AND PROVISIONS RELATED TO THE SUBJECT; REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES OR PARTS OF ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH; AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, the City of Paris Traffic Commission is charged with the responsibility to study and evaluate reasonable rates of speed on City streets and roadways; and, VVHEREAS, the Traffic Commission, at its regular meeting of July 10, 2007, considered and evaluated various suggestions and requests for the adjustment of maximum permissible speeds at various locations throughout the city, and having done so found and determined that the adjustment of m~imum permissible speeds at certain locations and on certain streets and roadways in the city is necessary to protect the health and safety and is in the best interests of the citizens of the city of Paris, and have so recommended speed adjustments to the City Council of the City of Paris; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, TEXAS: Section 1. That the findings set out in the preamble to this ordinance are hereby in all things approved. Section 2. That the following maximum, rates of speed are hereby determined and declared to be reasonable and safe for motor vehicles traveling upon the named streets or portions thereof as identified below: 7tn Street NW from the north curb line of the intersection of W. Campbell Street and 7th Street NW to the south curb line of the intersection of West Henderson Street and 7th Street NW, a speed limit of thirty (30) miles per hour at all times. Section 3. The City Engineer is hereby authorized to post appropriate signs indicating the maximum speed limit for this roadway. Section 4. All provisions of the ordinances of the City of Paris, Texas in conflict with the provisions of this ordinance are hereby repealed, and all other provisions of the ordinances of the City of Paris not in conflict with the provisions of this ordinance shall remain in full force and effect.
