This program aids in the <br />elimination of slum or blighted areas. <br /> <br />Use of Proceeds: <br /> <br />Awards may be provided for construction of the following public infrastructure in the <br />downtown designated main street area: <br /> <br />:: Related Links <br /> <br />. Contacts <br />. Forms <br /> <br />· acquisition of land needed for public infrastructure improvements <br />. water & sewer facilities/lines <br />· road/street construction/improvements <br />· natural gas line construction/improvements <br />· electric, telephone, & fiber optic line construction/improvements <br />. traffic signals and signs <br />. drainage <br />. sidewalk construction/improvements <br />· public parking lot construction/improvements <br />· other construction activities required to eliminate architectural barriers for the <br />handicapped <br /> <br />Building rehabilitation, machinery & equipment acquisition and working capital are <br />not eligible uses of proceeds. <br /> <br />Eligibility <br />Projects must meet the national objective of aiding in the elimination of slum or blighted <br />areas. Only a city designated as an official Texas Main Street City by the Texas <br />Historical Commission may submit an application for proposed improvements. The <br />improvements must directly support the revitalization of the city's designated main street <br />area. <br /> <br />Terms <br />Minimum awards are $50,000 <br />Maximum awards are $150,000 <br /> <br />Matching funds must be provided. <br /> <br />Process <br />Deadline for application submission for the 2007 program year is Sept 11th. Contact <br />TDA for details. Applications are submitted annually to Texas Historical Commission for <br />scoring and ranking, and then forwarded to TDA for further review, processing and <br />award.
