<br />Lamar County - Paris Economic Development Plan <br /> <br /> Completed By Completed <br />Task When <br />10. Institutions of higher education have been a catalyst for economic growth in many communities. <br />A. Within one year, a special task force comprised of business, government, and <br />educational leaders will investigate how other community colleges in the United States Special Task Force created June, 2008 <br />have interfaced with their community to enhance economic growth. The task force by PJC and PEDC <br />will then create a plan which gives direction to the Paris Junior College on how to <br />create new programs to enhance the economy. <br />B. Within two years, the Paris business community, county & city government, PEDC and PJC June, 2009 <br />and the economic development organization will implement the plan recommended by <br />the task force and form a partnership with the Paris Junior College to create long term <br />programs to directly help to improve the economy of Paris. <br />II. The "Business Climate" created by local government can have a positive or negative influence on the local economy. <br />A. Within one year of employment, the PEDC Executive Director will prepare a <br />report detailing issues created by the county and city government which have a PEDC, Existing Industry January, 2008 <br />positive or negative influence upon the primary employers in the county. <br />12. In order for Paris to be successful, funding needs to be provided to finance the various elements of the Plan. <br />A. For the first three years of the Plan, the City of Paris will fund the costs of the City of Paris January, 2010 <br />expanded economic development program. <br />B. Within two years, a special committee will identify long term sources of PEDC, Special Task Force June, 2009 <br />funding for all the economic development programs. <br />C.
