<br />DRAFT <br /> <br />RESOLUTION NO. <br /> <br />f:attorney\reswork\currentIJAG Grant - Felony Crimes Unit 2007 <br />September 4, 2007 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, <br />TEXAS, AUTHORIZING THE APPLICATION FOR A JUSTICE <br />ASSISTANCE GRANT PROGRAM (JAG) GRANT; AUTHORIZING THE <br />EXPENDITURE OF FUNDS FOR THE LAMAR COUNTY FELONY <br />CRIMES UNIT; ACCEPTING SAID GRANT AWARD UPON NOTICE <br />THEREOF; AUTHORIZING THE EXECUTION OF ANY AND ALL <br />DOCUMENTS NECESSARY FOR ACCEPTANCE AND <br />IMPLEMENTATION OF SAID GRANT UPON NOTICE THEREOF; <br />MAKING OTHER FINDINGS AND PROVISIONS RELATED TO THE <br />SUBJECT; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the United States Department of Justice, Bureau of Justice Assistance, Justice <br />Assistance Grant Program (JAG), provides funding for local law enforcement grants; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Paris is desirous of processing a grant <br />application for the continued operation of the Lamar County Felony Crimes Unit in the total amount <br />of $200,090, requiring a matching contribution from the City of $22,700; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Paris assures that, in the event ofloss or misuse <br />of the Criminal Justice Division funds, the funds will be returned to the Criminal Justice Division <br />in full; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City Council desires to authorize the Mayor, City Manager, and appropriate <br />City staff to accept and implement said grant (if same is received) without further action of City <br />Council; <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY <br />OF PARIS, TEXAS: <br /> <br />Section 1. That the findings set out in the preamble to this resolution are hereby in all things <br />approved. <br /> <br />Section 2. That an application be made to the United States Department of Justice, Bureau <br />of Justice Assistance, for a Justice Assistance Grant Program grant (JAG) for the continued operation <br />of the Lamar County Felony Crimes Unit in the total amount of $200,096, requiring a matching <br />contribution from the City of $22,096. <br /> <br />Section 3. That the City Manager be, and he is hereby, appointed as the Authorized Official <br />of said project and is authorized and directed to execute, on behalf of the City of Paris, an application <br />for said grant. <br />
