Wright, Director of Community Development <br /> <br />SUBJECT: Zoning Change Requests <br /> <br />DATE: October 24,2007 <br /> <br />The following zoning change request will be presented at the November 5,2007, meeting <br />of the Planning and Zoning Commission and the November 12,2007, meeting ofthe City Council <br />of the City of Paris for consideration: <br /> <br />1. Central Presbyterian Church is requesting that the property located on Lot 5, City Block 181, <br />being number 309 Church Street, be rezoned from a Multiple-Family Dwelling District No. <br />I (MF-I) to a Multiple-Family Dwelling District No. I (MF-I) with a Specific Use Permit <br />(5) Cemetery or Mausoleum. The Comprehensive Plan recommends that this property be <br />zoned for higher density residential uses; however, the current use of the property is a church, <br />which is permitted in any zoning classification. <br /> <br />The stated purpose of the zoning change is to allow the Church to place a columbarium in <br />the ash garden; however, the requested zoning change will affect the entire lot. If the <br />Commission supports the use of a portion of the Church property for the stated use but does <br />not wish to re-zone the entire lot as a cemetery, it may want to consider recommending a <br />zoning change only on that portion of the property on which the columbarium will be placed, <br />same being the ash garden. <br /> <br />cc: City Attorney's Office <br />
