AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, TEXAS, AMENDING THE TRAFFIC CONTROL MAP FOR THE CITY OF PARIS AS ADOPTED BY SECTION 31-65(b) OF THE PARIS CODE OF ORDINANCES, TO REMOVE A TRAFFIC CONTROL SIGNAL AT THE INTERSECTION OF NORTH MAIN STREET (BU271) & PROVINE STREET; MAKING OTHER FINDINGS AND PROVISIONS RELATED TO THE SUBJECT; PROVIDING A REPEALER CLAUSE, A SAVINGS CLAUSE, A SEVERABILITY CLAUSE; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, the City of Paris Traffic Commission is charged with the responsibility to study and evaluate traffic control devices for use on City streets and roadways; and, WHEREAS, among those traffic control devices evaluated by the Traffic Commission is the placement of stop signs and signal lights at various intersections throughout the City; and, WHEREAS, the Traffic Commission, at its regular meeting of November 6,2007 ,reviewed and approved a request from the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) to remove the traffic signal at the intersection of North Main Street (BU27 1) and Provine Street because based on this their traffic assessment a signal light is not warranted at this intersection; and, WHEREAS, all traffic signals in Paris are presently installed and maintained by the Texas Department of Public Transportation; and, WHEREAS, the Public Works Department of the City of Paris has reviewed TxDOT's proposal to remove the signal light and has no objection. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, TEXAS: Section 1. That the findings set out in the preamble to this ordinance are hereby in all things approved. Section 2. That the Traffic Control Map adopted in Paragraph (b) of Section 31-65 of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Paris, Paris, Texas, be, and the same is hereby, amended to remove the signal light at the intersection of North Main Street and Provine Street. Section 3. That all provisions of the ordinances of the City of Paris, Texas in conflict with the provisions of this ordinance are hereby repealed, and all other provisions of the ordinances of the City of Paris not in conflict with the provisions ofthis ordinance shall remain in full force and effect. .- i r'lT ..
