City of Paris Safety Committee Meeting November 6,2007 City Council Conference Room Present: Dale Maberry, Jason Barber, Melba Harris, Steve Wood, Amy Samis, Priscilla McAnally, Kelly Newman, Tim Moore, Darrel Dickerson · Call meeting to order @ 3 :06 pm. Roll Call - Matt Birch - Absent Motion to accept previous meeting's minutes by Priscilla 2nd by Kelly Newman Minutes approved 8-0 vote Reviewed 15t Report of Injuries/Accidents for October Request or ideas of any safety training in any department will be put on every agenda. Todd is currently working on getting Sharps training for the Public Works Department. Management Statement of Safety Policy, Safety Committee Formation, Safety Responsibilities, were given to all committee members for their review. City Manager, Kevin Carruth has approved and signed off on documents. Members reviewed letter from Clarence Graves with TML dated October 9,2007. Clarence will return on December 11,2007 to see how much progress we've made. Request for charts, graphs, loss history, etc. Todd put together report for 4 years. The City had $501,000 in workers compensation claims. Todd reported the information to all Department Heads. Melba has worked on the return to work program. She is waiting on Kevin's approval. Todd is working on getting a contract between the City and DPS to allow the city to run employees' drivers license. Discussed employee drug testing. Melba advised there was a court case that an employee won for being drug tested that it violated his fourth amendment right and he won the case in 10th district court. Todd, Kevin, Melba and Department Heads or Supervisors/Superintendents will meet with employees of each department at the time of their safety meetings to distribute safety plans.
