<br />MINUTES OF THE SPECIAL <br />MEETING OF THE <br />MAIN STREET ADVISORY BOARD <br /> <br />~tember 26, 2007 <br />Aikin Building <br />23 East Plaza <br />5:00 p.m. <br /> <br />A meeting of the members of the Paris Main Street Advisory Board was held Tuesday, September 26, <br />2007 at 5:10 p.m., at the Aikin Building, Downtown Paris. <br /> <br />PRESENT: Larry Womack <br />Pike Burkhart <br />Zach Saffle <br />Cindy Allcorn <br />Matthew Coyle <br />Wyatt Bowden <br />Kari Daniel <br />Karol Lyn Moore <br /> <br />ABSENT: <br /> <br />Marvin Gorley <br />Jennifer Long <br />Lisa House <br /> <br />Minutes <br />June 19, 2007 minutes were reviewed by board members and a motion was made by Pike Burkhart to <br />approve the minutes as prepared. Zach Saffle seconded and minutes were unanimously approved. <br /> <br />Board Training <br />New board members introduced themselves. Main Street Manager Bethany Golden reviewed some <br />of the key fundamentals of the Advisory Board. Some of the material reviewed included setting <br />obtainable goals, the Main Street four point approach, election of officers and committee heads and <br />Texas Main Street requirements. Main Street Mgr. emphasized setting realistic goals in line with the <br />fiscal year budget. The importance of working within the four point approach and utilizing <br />committees to carry out the scope of Main Street was also emphasized. Pike Burkhart recommended <br />that each committee involve other members from the community to work with Main Street, to help <br />build community support for the program. Main Street Mgr. recommended that board members read <br />the responsibilities for each committee chairman as well as review goals before the next Advisory <br />Board meeting. <br /> <br />lJm!pkin Festival <br />Main Street Manager reported that feedback had been positive regarding changing the event from a 2 <br />day event to a 1 day event. Due largely to Friday night football and low crowd attendance numbers <br />and the requests from several downtown merchants to close streets for as little time as possible the <br />Manager felt trying a 1 day event might prove successful.
