Regular City Council Meeting
January 14, 2008
Page 7
A Motion to approve this item was made by Council Member Brown and seconded by
Council Member Fisher.
Mayor Freelen stated that he had asked the Task Force on Code Enforcement to review this
Ordinance, but that he wanted the Council to be a part of their meeting. He went on to say that the
Task Force had taken on several big projects and needed additional time to study this item.
Motion carried, 6 ayes - 0 nays.
Council Member Wilson said he had a question about item lOD(5) and inquired if Council
could go back to the item. Kent McIlyar informed him they could, but would need a motion to
reconsider. A Motion to reconsider item l OD(5) was made by Council Member Biard and seconded
by Council Member Wilson. Motion carried, 6 ayes - 0 nays.
Council Member Wilson asked Gene Anderson if the City had any of the sub-prime backed
loans in its funds and he wanted to know if there was anyway the City could restrict those from being
in the City's funds. Gene Anderson said none of those were in the City's portfolio. In addition, he
said they could specifically add a line that says the City will not invest in those type of funds.
A Motion to amend lOD(5) with the inclusion of wording that would prohibit the use of
investing in sub-prime backed loans was made by Council Member Wilson. Council Member Biard
said he was fine with that, but would prefer to have the exact terminology. Gene Anderson said he
could do research and get the proper wording for the types of loans they wanted to prohibit. Council
Member Wilson suggested staff research it and bring it back to the next meeting.
A Motion to table item l OD(5) until the next meeting was made by Council Member Wilson
and seconded by Council Member Biard. Motion carried, 6 ayes - 0 nays.
12. Discussion and designation of certain City Council Members to liaison positions with
various City Boards and Commissions.
Mayor Freelen inquired of Council to which Boards and/or Commissions they wished to serve
in a liaison position. Council Member Wilson selected Planning and Zoning; Council Member Fisher
selected Housing; Council Member Biard selected Main Street; and Council Member Strathern
decided he would go to several different board meetings prior to making a decision.
13. Possible future agenda items.
Council Member Wilson asked that a discussion and possible action item be placed on the
next Agenda with regard to appointing a water committee to be involved in the study of Lake Pat
Mayse.
~ . . . . . . . . . . _ ...T. .
