Background: <br />The Paris-Lamar County Health Department was formed in 1942 by <br />the war powers Administration as part of Camp Maxey. After the war, the <br />Federal Government donated the building and land to the City of Paris and <br />County of Lamar. The City and County, along with the State of Texas, <br />picked up the funding for the Paris-Lamar County Health Department at that <br />time and it remains the same today. <br />Services: <br />The Paris-Lamar County Health Department provides many services to <br />the citizens of Lamar County. The purpose of these services is to prevent the <br />spread of communicable diseases in Lamar County. <br />A list of services is provided below: <br />1. immunizations <br />2. STD diagnosis and treatment <br />3. Primary Health Care program for 150% poverty and below <br />4. Prenatal services for low income <br />5. Family Planning services <br />6. testing of public drinking water <br />7. chronic and acute care for low income clients <br />8. health education <br />9. vector control (mosquito spraying program) <br />10. rabies investigation and testing <br />11. restaurant inspections <br />12. septic system permitting and inspections <br />13. environmental complaint investigations <br />14. WIC program <br />15. Child Health (well child & physicals for low income <br />clients) <br />16.
