WORK SESSION <br />OF THE CITY COUNCIL, CITY OF PARIS <br />February 14, 2008 <br />The City Council of the City of Paris met for a work session at 4:00 P. M. Thursday, February <br />14, 2008, at the City Council Chamber,107 E. Kaufinan, Paris, Texas. <br />Present: Mayor: Jesse James Freelen <br />Council Members: Will Biard; Don Wilson; and Bill Strathern, <br />Mayor Pro Tem <br />City Staf£ Kevin Carruth, City Manager; Kent McIlyar, <br />City Attorney; Janice Ellis, City Clerk; Gene <br />Anderson, Finance Director; Shawn Napier, <br />City Engineer; Priscilla McAnally, Library <br />Director; Anthony Bethel, Director of Lamar <br />County Health Department; and Doug Harris, <br />Interim Director of Utilities <br />Absent: Council Members: Stephen Brown; Kevin Gray; and Mary Ann <br />Fisher <br />l. Call meeting to order. <br />Mayor Freelen called the meeting to order at 4:05 p.m. <br />2. Pledge of Allegiance. <br />Council Member Biard led the pledge. <br />3. Presentation on Future Problem Solvers techniques and discussion of their application to the <br />Lake Pat Mayse Study Committee. <br />Instructor for Paris High School's Future Problem Solvers, Sandra Strom introduced <br />Rebekkah Cutrell, Ashita Ganguly, Samantha Maynard, Shelby Tucker and Thomas Price. Mrs. <br />Strom presented Council with hand-outs and reviewed the program's six step criteria for future <br />problem solving. The team gave a demonstration of how they work through and solve problems. <br />Mrs. Strom suggested Council get the community involved with the Lake Pat Mayse Study <br />Committee. She said education was important and suggested use of radio, television and the <br />newspaper through the education process. <br />_ _ <br />_ _ . _ <br />
