RESOLUTION <br />GREATER PARIS DEVELOPMENT FOUNDATION <br />This Resolution shall serve as a conunitment and endorsement of the Greater Paris Development <br />Foundation to authorize the Trail de Paris to utilize the former Union Pacific Railroad right-of-«-ay <br />as conveyed to the Foundation tlirough a Donative Deed by the Union Pacific and placed in the Rail <br />Banking Program through the Rails to Trails Conservancv approsimatelyo une-fourth (1/4) mile from <br />S.E. 12`'' Street to S.E. 8`'' Street, in the City of Paris and Nvill be donated to the City of Paris. <br />WHEREAS, the Trail de Paris has proved to be a tremendous asset to the Paris <br />Community and the County ofLamar for alternative transportation, recreation and community <br />access; and <br />WHEREAS, community betterment through transportation, recreation and health is <br />a primary objective of the Foundation; and <br />WHEREAS, the extension of the trail utilizing the Union Pacific right-of-way will <br />make it even more accessible and accommodating to residents and visitors to this northeast <br />Texas area; and <br />WAEREAS, the extension of this trail will enhance the quality of life for all area <br />residents not only as an asset but an attraction for visitors and future residents; <br />NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Greater Paris Development <br />Foundation endorses and supports the Trail de Paris and commits uninhabited use and access <br />to the Union Pacific Right-Of-Way from S.E. 12"' Street to S.E. 8`h Street; in the City of Paris, <br />approximately one-fourth (1/4) mile and ifthe Trail is selected by the Texas Parks & Wildlife <br />Recreation Trai] Grant Program for funding will be donated to the City of Paris. <br />PASSED AND ADOPTED on this the 5`h day of May 2008. <br />, <br />i" <br />EDWARD D.
