The public hearing was declared closed.
10. Consideration of and action on the petition of Terry Allen for a change in
zoning from a One Family Dwelling District No. 2(SF-2) to a Commercial
District (C) on Lot 18, B/ock 203, Scott & Braden Addition, being number 2306
Wesf Kaufman.
Lisa Wright entered the petition into the record. Benny Plata stated he
understood the issue with going into a residential area, but he is trying to tear
down a building that is in bad shape. This will make the area look better and
push to make Paris look better overall. He is more in favor than against,
because it will make it more presentable by tearing down an old building.
Richard Hunt stated he has hard time going from residential to commercial
and asked where we draw the lines He further stated he sees nothing but a
great asset, but when do you cross that buffer zone. Benny Plata stated he's
not going deep into a residential area because most of the lot will be left
vacant. He stated that not many businesses in West Paris want to stay there,
and the Allens have been there a long time.
Motion was made by Benny Plata, seconded by Brad Archer to approve the
petition. Motion failed 2-2 with Curtis Fendley abstaining. The Commission
asked Mr. Allen to consider Planned Development zoning so that a buffer
could be provided for the neighborhood. Motion was made by Brad Archer,
seconded by Richard Hunt to deny petition. Motion carried 3-1 with Curtis
Fendley abstaining.
11. Public hearing to consider fhe petition on Abe Enns for a change in zoning
from an Agricultural District (A) to a Commercial District (C) on a 0.6597 acre
tracf of land /ocated in the B.
