WHEREAS, in accordance with the requirements of the Texas Constitution set out <br />above, the City Clerk has researched the voter registration records and determined that <br />there were 14,235 registered voters in the City of Paris, Texas as of March 18, 2008 the <br />date the Petition was filed, and five percent (5%) of this number is 712 (See, Memorandum <br />from City Clerk dated June 2, 2008 attached hereto and incorporated herein as Exhibit "A"). <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />PARIS, TEXAS: <br />Section 1. That the findings set out in the preamble to this resolution are hereby <br />in all things approved. <br />Section 2. That the City Council of the City of Paris hereby finds and determines <br />that the Tax Freeze Petition filed with the City Clerk on March 18, 2008 was not signed by <br />five percent (5%) of the registered voters of the City of Paris, as required by Article 8, <br />Section 1-b(h) of the Texas Constitution, therefore, a special election will not be called on <br />this Petition. <br />Section 3.
