REGULAR MEETING <br />OF THE CITY COUNCIL, CITY OF PARIS <br />June 23, 2008 <br />The City Council of the City of Paris met for a regular session at 6:00 P. M. Monday, June <br />23, 2008, at the City Council Chamber, 107 E. Kaufman, Paris, Texas. <br />Present: Mayor Pro Tem: Joe McCarthy <br />Council Members: Kevin Kear; Stephen Brown; Will Biard; <br />Edwin Pickle; and Bill Strathern <br />City Staff: Kevin Carruth, City Manager; Kent McIlyar, <br />City Attorney; Janice Ellis, City Clerk; Gene <br />Anderson, Finance Director; Shawn Napier, <br />City Engineer; Lisa Wright, Community <br />Development Director; Karl Louis, Chief of <br />Police; and Doug Hanis, Interim Director of <br />Utilities <br />Absent: Mayor: Jesse James Freelen <br />Opening Agenda <br />1. Call meeting to order. <br />Mayor Pro Tem McCarthy Ealled the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m. <br />2. Invocation. <br />Pastor Bruce Frazier gave the invocation. <br />3. Pledge of Allegiance. <br />Council Member Kear led the pledge. <br />4. Citizens Forum. <br />Barbara Doyal, 210-17th S.E. - she said the ditch overblow beside and behind her house <br />caused her house to flood and she further said the ditch needed to be cleaned out. <br />Robert Brunson, 2598 Clark Lane - he said that Buttermilk Creek needed to be cleaned out. <br />He also said that he did not think that the $20,000.00 tax exemption should be removed. <br />0 000002 <br />
