Regular City Council Meeting <br />July 14, 2008 <br />Page 7 <br />to give his presentation was made by Council Member Biard and seconded by Council Member <br />Brown. Motion carried, 7 ayes - 0 nays. <br />18. Hear and deliberate on Oncor's presentation of city streetlights. <br />Oncor representative Stan McKee gave a presentation on streetlight outages. Mr. McKee said <br />anyone could report a street light outage by accessing their web-site or calling 1.888.313.4747. Kevin <br />Carruth said a telephone number to report street light outages had also been added to the telephone <br />directory under the City of Paris. <br />A Motion to move to item 17 was made by Council Member Biard and seconded by Council <br />Member McCarthy. Motion carried, 7 ayes - 0 nays. <br />17. RESOLUTION NO. 2008-054: A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF PARIS, TEXAS, <br />SUSPENDiNG THE AUGUST 8, 2008, EFFECTNE DATE OF ONCOR ELECTRIC <br />DELIVERY COMPANY REQUESTED RATE CHANGE TO PERMIT THE CITY TIME <br />TO STUDY THE REQUEST AND TO ESTABLISH REASONABLE RATES; <br />APPROVING COOPERATION WITH ONCOR CITIES STEERING COMMITTEE TO <br />HIRE LEGAL AND CONSULTING SERVICES AND TO NEGOTIATE WITH THE <br />COMPANY AND DIRECT ANY NECESSARY LITIGATION AND APPEALS; FINDING <br />THAT THE MEETING AT WHICH THIS RESOLUTION IS PASSED IS OPEN TO THE <br />PUBLIC AS REQUIRED BY LAW; REQUIRING NOTICE OF THIS RESOLUTTON TO <br />THE COMPANY AND LEGAL COUNSEL FOR THE STEERING COMMITTEE. <br />Gene Anderson said this rate increase was filed by Oncor on June 27`h and would be a 17.6% <br />residential increase, a 9.1 % commercial increase, and 5.8% street lighting increase. Mr. Anderson <br />said staff was recommending approval of this resolution, because it would suspend the rate increase <br />for the maximum time period permitted by law allowing the Steering Committee of Cities served by <br />Oncor sufficient time to evaluate the filing and to make recommendations for further action. <br />A Motion to approve this item was made by Council Member McCarthy and seconded by <br />Council Member Kear. Motion carried, 7 ayes - 0 nays. <br />A Motion to return to item 15 was made by Council Member McCarthy and seconded by <br />Council Member Biard.
