Motion carried 5-0.
3. Public hearing to consider the petition of Stacey D. Harris to grant a variance
of Section 11.5-3(b)(1) of the Fencing Ordinance which prohibits front yard
fences except (1) on lots zoned Historic Overlay District (HD) and in
accordance with the design standards adopted by the Historic Preservation
Commission, (2) on lots in excess of 2 acres in size which are used forsingle
family residential purposes, and (3) on lots which are zoned and used for LI
or H/ purposes, by allowing a front yard fence on Lot 11, B/ock 10, Gibbons-
Braden Addition, being number 1145 15th Street S. E.
The public hearing was declared open.
Stacey Harris, 1145 15th Street S.E., stated her house was being leveled and
was not finished until May. The proposed fence will be a 40" wooden picket
fence to replace railroad ties that are currently in the yard, and it will be
painted white. The fence will be placed 2 feet inside of the property line, and
it is needed to keep stray animals and kids out of the yard. Ms. Harris further
stated she has spent a lot of money on yard plantings and kids are pulling up
her flowers. There are other fences along the street. The proposed fence has
been moved from another location, but is in good condition and will be
painted.
Linda Reyes, 1155 15th Street S.E., stated she is the mother of the applicant.
Her daughter has done a lot of hard work on the property, and the fence will
keep dogs from digging up the dirt they moved in to level the yard.
Y 000-020
