RESOLUTION NO. 2000-119 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, PARIS, TEXAS, APPROVING THE ADOPTION OF THE AMERICANS WITH DISABILITIES ACT (ADA), SECTION 504 GRIEVANCE PROCEDURE IN COMPLIANCE WITH THE STATE REVIEW PROCESS; MAKING OTHER FINDINGS AND PROVISIONS RELATED TO THE SUBJECT; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Paris did heretofore, on the 14th day of April, 1997, in Resolution No. 97-037, authorize the application for a grant under the Texas Community Development Program (TCDP) for the purpose of funding the rehabilitation of single-family homes owned by persons of low-income and handicapped status; and, WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Paris did heretofore, on the 9th day of June, 1997, in Resolution No. 97-061, establish the position of "Section 504 Compliance Officer" to assure that otherwise qualified handicapped individuals are not excluded from participation in, denied the benefits of, or subjected to discrimination under any program or activity receiving federal financial assistance in compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act, and appointed Thomas E. Haynes, Project Coordinator, as the "Section 504 Compliance Officer" assigned with the responsibility of complying with the requirements of Section 504; and, WHEREAS, in order to comply with additional requirements of Section 504, the City of Paris should adopt the Section 504 Grievance Procedure in the form attached hereto as Exhibit A; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, PARIS, TEXAS: Section 1. That the findings set out in the preamble to this resolution are hereby in all things approved. Section 2. That the Section 504 Grievance Procedure, in the form attached hereto as Exhibit A, be and is hereby, adopted. Section 3. That the Mayor be, and he is hereby, authorized and directed to execute, on behalf of the City of Paris, any and aU documents required to manifest the City's adoption of the aforesaid Section 504 Grievance Procedure. Section 4. That this resolution shall be effective from and after its date of passage.
