<br />RESOLUTION NO. 2002-044 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, <br />PARIS, TEXAS, AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER, CITY <br />ATTORNEY, AND CITY ENGINEER TO ACQUIRE NECESSARY <br />PROPERTY FOR SITING A NEW ELEVATED WATER STORAGE TANK <br />AND EASEMENTS FOR ASSOCIATED WATERLINES; MAKING OTHER <br />FINDINGS AND PROVISIONS RELATED TO THE SUBJECT; AND <br />PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, a reliable potable water supply is one of the essential elements of life; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, reliable, consistent water pressure is necessary to deliver potable water for <br />all purposes, especially for fire-fighting; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City Engineer of the City of Paris has identified the need for a new <br />elevated water storage tank to increase the City's water storage capabilities and to enhance the <br />water pressure in the City's water system; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City Council finds and determines that the construction of a new elevated <br />water storage tank is necessary to protect the public health, safety, and welfare of the citizens of <br />the city of Paris; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Paris did heretofore, on the 11th day of <br />February, 2002, in Resolution No. 2002-043, authorize the City Manager and the City Attorney <br />to negotiate and the City Manager to execute an engineering services contract with Bucher, Willis <br />& Ratliff to perform engineering services related to the construction of said elevated water storage <br />tank; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, it is deemed appropriate that the City Manager, City Attorney, and City <br />Engineer be authorized to acquire necessary property for siting said elevated water storage tank; <br />NOW, THEREFORE, <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, PARIS, <br />TEXAS: <br /> <br />Section 1. That the findings set out in the preamble to this resolution are hereby in all <br />things approved. <br /> <br />Section 2. That the City Manager, City Attorney, and City Engineer be, and they are <br />hereby, authorized to acquire necessary property for siting a new elevated water storage tank and <br />easements for associated water lines. <br /> <br />Section 3. That this resolution shall be effective from and after its date of passage. <br />
