<br />RESOLUTION NO. 4002-052 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, <br />PARIS, TEXAS, APPROVING AND AUTHORIZING A SUPPLEMENTAL <br />GRANT APPLICATION TO THE OFFICE OF THE GOVERNOR, <br />CRIMINAL JUSTICE DIVISION FOR ADDITIONAL FUNDING FROM <br />THE REGIONAL CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE APPREHENSION <br />PROGRAM GRANT FOR THE PURCHASE OF EQUIPMENT TO BE USED <br />IN THE TEXAS NARCOTIC CONTROL PROGRAM; AUTHORIZING THE <br />EXECUTION OF ANY AND ALL DOCUMENTS RELATED TO SAID <br />SUPPLEMENTAL GRANT; APPROVING AND AUTHORIZING A <br />SUPPLEMENTAL GRANT APPLICATION COVER SHEET; MAKING <br />OTHER FINDINGS AND PROVISiONS RELATED TO THE SUBJECT; AND <br />PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Paris did heretofore, on the 11th day of <br />December, 2000, in Resolution No. 2000-165, authorize ar~ flpplicatiml to be made to the Office of <br />the Governor, Criminal Justice Division, for the Texas Narcotics Control Program (TNCP) grant; <br />and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Office ofthe Governor, Criminal Justice Division, issued its grant award <br />entitled "Regional Controlled Substance Apprehension Program" grant, No. DB-OI-AI0-13854-03 <br />for the period beginning June 1,2001, and ending May31, 2002, in the total amountof$388,471.00, <br />requiring a matching contribution of$129,490.00 in the form of cash; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Paris deemed it in the best interests of the <br />citizens of Paris that the City of Paris accept said grant award and continue to suppress drug activity <br />in and around the city of Paris, and thereby adopted Resolution No. 2001-133 on August 20,2001, <br />accepting the aforesaid Regional Controlled Substance Apprehension Grant; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, since the aforesaid approval, the City of Paris has been advised that, in order <br />to comply with the Racial Profiling Law which became effective January 1, 2002, certain equipment <br />purchases are required in order that the Texas Narcotics Control Program be in compliance with said <br />law along with other equipment necessary for drug interdiction activities as such equipment is <br />described in Exhibit A, attached hereto, and a Supplemental Grant Application should be made for <br />a Regional Controlled Substance Apprehension Program Supplemental Grant; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City Council ofthe City of Paris deems it to be in the best interests ofthe <br />citizens of Paris to approve the Supplemental Grant Application in the total amount of $8,483.00, <br />with the State paying $6,361.00 and the local cash match being $2,122.00 for said equipment; NOW, <br />THEREFORE, <br />
