RESOLUTION NO. 4002-052 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, PARIS, TEXAS, APPROVING AND AUTHORIZING A SUPPLEMENTAL GRANT APPLICATION TO THE OFFICE OF THE GOVERNOR, CRIMINAL JUSTICE DIVISION FOR ADDITIONAL FUNDING FROM THE REGIONAL CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE APPREHENSION PROGRAM GRANT FOR THE PURCHASE OF EQUIPMENT TO BE USED IN THE TEXAS NARCOTIC CONTROL PROGRAM; AUTHORIZING THE EXECUTION OF ANY AND ALL DOCUMENTS RELATED TO SAID SUPPLEMENTAL GRANT; APPROVING AND AUTHORIZING A SUPPLEMENTAL GRANT APPLICATION COVER SHEET; MAKING OTHER FINDINGS AND PROVISiONS RELATED TO THE SUBJECT; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Paris did heretofore, on the 11th day of December, 2000, in Resolution No. 2000-165, authorize ar~ flpplicatiml to be made to the Office of the Governor, Criminal Justice Division, for the Texas Narcotics Control Program (TNCP) grant; and, WHEREAS, the Office ofthe Governor, Criminal Justice Division, issued its grant award entitled "Regional Controlled Substance Apprehension Program" grant, No. DB-OI-AI0-13854-03 for the period beginning June 1,2001, and ending May31, 2002, in the total amountof$388,471.00, requiring a matching contribution of$129,490.00 in the form of cash; and, WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Paris deemed it in the best interests of the citizens of Paris that the City of Paris accept said grant award and continue to suppress drug activity in and around the city of Paris, and thereby adopted Resolution No. 2001-133 on August 20,2001, accepting the aforesaid Regional Controlled Substance Apprehension Grant; and, WHEREAS, since the aforesaid approval, the City of Paris has been advised that, in order to comply with the Racial Profiling Law which became effective January 1, 2002, certain equipment purchases are required in order that the Texas Narcotics Control Program be in compliance with said law along with other equipment necessary for drug interdiction activities as such equipment is described in Exhibit A, attached hereto, and a Supplemental Grant Application should be made for a Regional Controlled Substance Apprehension Program Supplemental Grant; and, WHEREAS, the City Council ofthe City of Paris deems it to be in the best interests ofthe citizens of Paris to approve the Supplemental Grant Application in the total amount of $8,483.00, with the State paying $6,361.00 and the local cash match being $2,122.00 for said equipment; NOW, THEREFORE,
