.. /"*"' --- WHEREAS, the Commissioners Court of Lamar County, by and through the Honorable M. C. Superville, County Judge, has requested the City, on behalf of Lamar County, to act favorably on the request of the Lamar County Chapter of the American Red Cross for transfer of the aforesaid surplus vehicle to be used as a disaster relief vehicle by the Red Cross; and, WHEREAS, the City Council has authorized payment of the remaining value of the trade- in after the adjustment for the $5,000.00 contributed by the Red Cross, or $10,503.00, to be paid pursuant to the County's current contract with the City of Paris for ambulance service, whereby Lamar County pays forty percent (40 %) and the City of Paris pays sixty percent (60 %) of the unreimbursed cost of the expenses of said ambulance service; and, WHEREAS, the Red Cross has indicated such a disaster vehicle would be used to treat local victims of the city and the county in a disaster; would be used as a canteen to serve food, provide blankets, and other basic necessities during a disaster; would be used in the city and the county as a first aid station for a variety of community purposes; and would be used to replace an existing disaster vehicle currently in a state of disrepair; and, WHEREAS, the City Council finds and determines that the transfer of said surplus vehicle to the Lamar County Chapter of the American Red Cross, and the purposes to which it would be utilized as a disaster relief vehicle, constitute a public purpose and use to the betterment of the public health, safety, and welfare of the citizens of the city of Paris; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, PARIS, TEXAS: Section 1. That the fmdings set out in the preamble to this resolution are hereby in all things approved. Section 2. That a model year 1997 Ford F350 Type 1 Ambulance, Vehicle Identification Number IFDKF3FOVEBI8087, currently designated by the City EMS Service as Medic 4, because of its age, mileage, general condition, and extensive use, shall be and is hereby designated as obsolescent and surplus property no longer appropriate for use as an ambulance by the City of Paris EMS Ambulance Service. Section 3. That the offer of a $5,000.00 contribution by the Lamar County Chapter of the American Red Cross to defray a portion of the value of the Medic 4 ambulance as a trade-in towards the purchase of a new ambulance is hereby accepted. Section 4. That the request of Lamar County for the City to transfer said ambulance to the Lamar County Chapter of the American Red Cross is hereby approved, and the City Council hereby directs that the remaining value of said ambulance as a trade-in, after contribution by the Red Cross, that is, $10,503.00, shall be paid pursuant to and in accordance with the County's current contract with the City of Paris whereby Lamar County pays forty percent (40%) and the City of Paris pays sixty percent (60%) of the unreimbursed expense of operating the emergency ambulance service.
