<br />WHEREAS, the aforesaid surplus vehicle has value to the City of Paris only as a trade-in
<br />vehicle for purposes of acquiring a new ambulance, and the trade-in value of said vehicle has been
<br />established as $15,503.00 based on prior Resolution No. 2001-184, adopted on November 12,
<br />2001, and the City Council authorized the City Manager to utilize said surplus vehicle as a trade-in
<br />to the Houston-Galveston Area Council of Governments at the value of $15,503.00; and,
<br />
<br />WHEREAS, to the extent a portion of the value of said vehicle as a trade-in should be
<br />reimbursed to the City, the Lamar County Chapter of the American Red Cross has previously
<br />offered $5,000.00 to defray in part the value of the vehicle as a trade-in; and,
<br />
<br />WHEREAS, the City Council has, by adoption of Resolution No. 2002-022 on January
<br />14, 2002, authorized payment of the remaining value of the trade-in after the adjustment for the
<br />$5,000.00 contributed by the Red Cross, or $10,503.00, to be paid pursuant to the County's
<br />current contract with the City of Paris for ambulance service, whereby Lamar County pays forty
<br />percent (40%) and the City of Paris pays sixty percent (60%) of the unreimbursed cost of the
<br />expenses of said ambulance service; and,
<br />
<br />WHEREAS, the Commissioners Court of Lamar County has further requested the City to
<br />reconsider the donation of the ambulance to the Red Cross and is now willing to contribute an
<br />amount equivalent to fifty percent (50%) of the trade-in value ofthe ambulance, that is, fifty percent
<br />(50%) of$15,503.00, or $7,751.50, in part in lieu of the $5,000.00 offered by the Red Cross, and the
<br />City Council desires to consider the offer by Lamar County and reconsider the terms for donation
<br />to defray the cost ofthe trade-in value of said ambulance; NOW, THEREFORE,

<br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, PARIS,
<br />TEXAS:

<br />Section 1. That the findings set out in the preamble to this resolution are hereby in all
<br />things approved.
<br />
<br />Section 2. That a model year 1997 Ford F350 Type 1 Ambulance, Vehicle Identification
<br />Number IFDKF3FOVEBI8087, currently designated by the City EMS Service as Medic 4,
<br />because of its age, mileage, general condition, and extensive use, shall be and is hereby designated
<br />as obsolescent and surplus property no longer appropriate for use as an ambulance by the City of
<br />Paris EMS Ambulance Service.

<br />Section 3. That the offer of a contribution by Lamar County in the amount of fifty percent
<br />(50%) of the trade-in value of the Medic 4 ambulance, that is, fifty percent (50%) of$15,503.00,
<br />or $7,751.50, to defray fifty percent (50%) of the value of the Medic 4 ambulance as a trade-in
<br />towards the purchase of a new ambulance is hereby accepted.
<br />
<br />Section 4. That the request for the City to transfer said ambulance to the Lamar County
<br />Chapter of the American Red Cross is hereby approved, and the City Council hereby directs that
<br />the remaining value of said ambulance as a trade-in, after contribution by Lamar County in the
<br />amount of $7,751.50, shall be paid in a like amount of $7,751.50 by the City of Paris.
