Questions for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers
1. What is the maximum lake level and minimum lake level at which the boat ramps at Pat
Mayse Lake are operational? Is it feasible to make boats operational at lower lake levels
than is now the case?
2. Is there a way to keep the lake level higher at the start of summer by not releasing water
unless the level were at 457 or above, instead of at 451? We get very little of our rain in
July and August, and evaporation is at its highest. Is there not a way to put a gate where
the water leaves the lake so that water levels in the summer start their decline from a
higher level? At what lake level does it become a problem in the parks, picnic areas, etc.
around Pat Mayse Lake?
3. How accurate are the Corps' data on inflow, outflow and evaporation at Pat Mayse Lake?
Just estimates? Is the data scientifically valid? Describe the processes through which
inflow, outflow, and evaporation are determined.
4. What will be the daily drawn down capacity of P.M. Lake when fully silted, (2065)?
5. Does the Corps have plans or been asked to prepare plans for increased capacity at P.M.
Lake?
6. Are there funds available through the Corps to improve capacity at P. M. Lake?
7. At P. M. Lake what amount does the Corps use for daily average of evaporation and
spillway discharge in GPD?
8. How much water would be available in the conservation pool (415 ft. - 451 ft.) if a 5 year
drought reduced the replenishing process by just 10 % per year of our average annual of
rain fa1142.6 in. ?
9. Would the reduction in current spillway overflow (if water was diverted prior to the
spillway) create problems downstream on flowage requirements within the Red River ?
10. Does the Corps require (mandate) certain flows through P. M. Lake that would prohibit
City redirection (sale) of water that never reaches overflow capacity?
11. Would the pumping of water from Lake Hugo into P.M. Lake create problems P. M.
Lake was not designed to handle? (Quicker silt accumulation, less flood control, water
quality, plant. animal or recreational issues)
12. If P. M. Lake's capacity was to be increased which method dredging, raising dam, or
moving upstream would increase capacity the best and be the most economical to
accomplish?
13. Would the Corps be interested in participating in future P. M. Lake improvements
relating to capacity building?
Exhibit "A"
. OODU211,
