Wright, Director of Council Date: Force Community Development 20. 8/ 11 /08 RECOMMENDED MOTION: Motion to approve an ordinance amending Section 10, Off Street Parking and Loading Regulations of Ordinance No. 1710, the Zoning Ordinance, providing new regulations for minimum parking spaces, parking space size and parking aisle dimensions, allowable parking surfaces and parking surface maintenance. POLICY ISSUE(S): Ordinance BACKGROUND: On February 19, March 18, and May 20, 2008, the Task Force on Code Enforcement considered a comprehensive parking ordinance that establishes standards for parking within the city of Paris. The current ordinance is outdated and does not address a variety of issues which commonly arise when new development is underway, and the proposed ordinance will provide a more comprehensive approach that will give more guidance to staff. The new ordinance includes provisions regulating (1) the minimum number of parking spaces required including handicapped, (2) allowable parking surfaces, (3) parking space and aisle dimensions, (4) parking surface maintenance, and (5) allowable uses of parking spaces. BOARD/COMMISSION RECOMMENDATION: The City Council Task Force on Code Enforcement has recommended adoption of a comprehensive parking ordinance.
