ORDINANCE NO. 2007-012 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, TEXAS, AMENDING THE TRAFFIC CONTROL MAP FOR THE CITY OF PARIS AS ADOPTED BY SECTION 31-65(b) OF THE PARIS CODE OF ORDINANCES, TO ADD A TRAFFIC CONTROL SIGNAL AT THE INTERSECTION OF 20TH STREET NE AND PINE BLUFF STREET; PROVIDING FOR A PENALTY NOT TO EXCEED $200.00; MAKING OTHER FINDINGS AND PROVISIONS RELATED TO THE SUBJECT; REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES OR PARTS OF ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, the City of Paris Traffic Commission is charged with the responsibility to study and evaluate traffic control devices for use on City streets and roadways; and, WHEREAS, among those traffic control devices evaluated by the Traffic Commission is the placement of stop signs and signal lights at various intersections throughout the City; and, WHEREAS, the Traffic Commission, at its regular meeting of June 5, 2007, approved a request for an ordinance regulating a traffic signal being installed at the corner of NE 20`h Street and Pine Bluff Street; and, WHEREAS, all traffic signals in Paris are presently installed and maintained by the Texas Department of Public Transportation and state law is already in place for traffic control signals; and, WHEREAS, it is in the best interests of the citizens of the City of Paris, that the Traffic Control Map of the City of Paris be amended to identify the new traffic signal light and the same should be approved; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, TEXAS: Section 1. That the findings set out in the preamble to this ordinance are hereby in all things approved. Section 2. That the Traffic Control Map adopted in Paragraph (b) of Section 31-65 of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Paris, Paris, Texas, be, and the same is hereby, amended to include the signal light at the intersection of 20' Street NE and Pine Bluff Street.
