RESOLUTION N0. 2008-071 <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, TEXAS, TO <br />CALLING FOR A PROPOSAL TO PLACE A VOTE ON THE 2008 TAX RATE ON A <br />FUTURE CITY COUNCIL AGENDA AS AN ACTION ITEM; MAKING OTHER <br />FINDINGS AND PROVISIONS RELATED TO THE SUBJECT; AND PROVIDING <br />AN EFFECTIVE DATE. <br />WHEREAS, in accordance with Section 26.05(d) of the Property Tax Code of the <br />State of Texas, the City will hold two public hearings on the proposed tax rate, the first <br />public hearing to be held at 5:00 p.m. on September 15, 2008 and the second at 5:00 p.m. <br />on September 19, 2008 in the City Council Chamber, 107 E. Kaufman Street, Paris, Texas; <br />and, <br />WHEREAS, in accordance with Section 26.06(d) of the Tax Code, the governing body <br />of the taxing unit shall announce at the public hearings the date, time, and place for the <br />meeting at which they will vote on the tax rate for 2008. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />PARIS, TEXAS: <br />Section 1. That the findings set out in the preamble to this resolution are hereby in <br />all things approved. <br />Section 2. Public hearings on the proposed tax rate are hereby called for at 5:00 <br />p.m. on September 15, 2008 and at 5:00 p.m. on September 19, 2008 in the City Council <br />Chamber, 107 E. Kaufman Street, Paris, Texas. <br />Section 3. That a proposal to adopt a tax rate for 2008 shall be placed as an action <br />item on a future City Council agenda prior to September 30, 2008. <br />Section 4.
