Wright, Director of <br />Council Date: <br />Community Development <br />14. <br />10/27/08 <br />RECOMMENDED MOTION: <br />Report on the status of the demolition of the Casa Bonita Apartment Complex. <br />POLICY ISSUE(S): <br />Council objective; Nuisance abatement <br />BACKGROUND: <br />On September 8, 2008, the City Council awarded the bid to Intercon Demolition in the amount of <br />$475,232.00, which includes demolition of 18 buildings and the removal of numerous concrete building <br />pads and asphalt parking lots. In the event the owner fails to demolition four buildings on his adjacent <br />property within 60 days of the award, the City Council alternatively awarded the bid to remove those <br />buildings and accompanying concrete pads and asphalt parking lots in the amount of $82,964.00. <br />Contract documents have been forwarded to Intercon, and they have advised that all insurance <br />paperwork and bonds will be returned to the City by October 24. They will be given a notice to proceed <br />as soon as all required documents have been returned, and they anticipate beginning demolition of the <br />structures by no later than mid-November.
