Regular City Council Meeting <br />November 24, 2008 <br />Page 6 <br />PROVISIONS RELATED TO THE SUBJECT; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. <br />A Motion to approve this item was made by Council Member Biard and seconded by Council <br />Member Kear. Motion carried, 6 ayes - 0 nays. <br />16. RESOLUTION NO. 2008-103: A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY <br />OF PARIS, TEXAS, APPROVING AND AUTHORIZING A TRAINING <br />REIMBURSEMENT AGREEMENT FOR NEW POLICE OFFICER RECRUITS AND <br />FIREFIGHTER RECRUITS; MAKING OTHER FINDINGS AND PROVISIONS RELATED <br />TO THE SUBJECT; AND DECLARING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. <br />Mayor Freelen said there had been a pattern reflecting that once police officers and firefighters <br />were trained and hired in Paris, they moved to other cities to make more money. Mayor Freelen said <br />the City had been burdened with the training and salary costs while the recruits were in the training <br />process. Under the agreement, he said the recruit would be required to reimburse the City one- <br />hundred percent of the training costs if the recruit did not stay on the job for twenty-four months. <br />Mayor Freelen also said if the recruit was on the job between twenty-four and thirty-six months, the <br />recruit would be required to reimburse the City seventy-five percent of the training costs. <br />A Motion to approve this item was made by Council Member Biard and seconded by Council <br />Member McCarthy. Motion carried, 6 ayes - 0 nays. <br />20. Consider and approve future events for City Council and/or City Staff pursuant to Resolution <br />No. 2004-081. <br />None were referenced. <br />21. Deliberate on possible future agenda items. <br />Council Member Biard asked for a discussion item on the dust free parking ordinance to be <br />on a December or January Agenda. It was a consensus of Council to place an action item on the next <br />Agenda to consider the Council Member Agenda Item Request form and process. <br />22. Adjournment. <br />There being no further business, a Motion to adjourn was made by Council Member McCarthy <br />and seconded by Council Member Brown. Motion carried, 6 ayes - 0 nays.
