<br />ORDINANCE NO. ?nOl_n?q <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, <br />PARIS, TEXAS, ESTABLISHING A MAXIMUM, REASONABLE RATE OF <br />SPEED ON CERTAIN PORTIONS OF CERTAIN STREETS AND <br />HIGHWAYS AND PUBLIC PLACES IN THE CITY OF PARIS; PROVIDING <br />FORA FINE NOT TO EXCEED $200.00; MAKING OTHER FINDINGS AND <br />PROVISIONS RELATED TO THE SUBJECT; REPEALING ALL <br />ORDINANCES OR PARTS OF ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH; <br />AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE OF JUNE 1, 2001. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City of Paris Traffic Commission is charged with the responsibility to study <br />and evaluate reasonable rates of speed on City streets and roadways; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Traffic Commission, at its regular meeting of May 8, 200 I, considered and <br />evaluated various suggestions and requests for the adjustment of maximum permissible speeds at <br />various locations throughout the city, and having done so found and determined that the adjustment <br />of maximum permissible speeds at certain locations and on certain streets and roadways in the city <br />is necessary to protect the health and safety and is in the best interests of the citizens of the city of <br />Paris, and have so recommended speed adjustments to the City Council of the City of Paris; NOW, <br />THEREFORE, <br /> <br />BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, PARIS, <br />TEXAS: <br /> <br />Section 1. That the findings set out in the preamble to this ordinance are hereby in all things <br />approved. <br /> <br />Section 2. That the following maximum, reasonable and prudent rates of speed shall be <br />established on those portions of the street hereinafter described: <br /> <br />Walker Park Area: <br /> <br />(1) On West Shiloh Street from the west curb line of 14th Street N.W. west to the east <br />curbline of 18th Street N.W., a speed limit of twenty (20) miles per hour at all times. <br /> <br />(2) On 14th Street N.W. from the west curbline ofW. Booth Street, north to the south <br />curbline of W. Shiloh Street, a speed limit of twenty (20) miles per hour at all times. <br /> <br />(3) On 18th Street N.W. from the south curbline of W. Shiloh Street, south <br />approximately 800 feet, a speed limit of twenty (20) miles per hour at all times. <br />
