<br />ORDINANCE NO. 2001-004 <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, <br />PARIS, TEXAS, ESTABLISHING A MAXIMUM, REASONABLE RATE OF <br />SPEED ON CERTAIN PORTIONS OF CERTAIN STREETS AND <br />HIGHWAYS AND PUBLIC PLACES IN THE CITY OF PARIS; PROVIDING <br />FOR A FINE NOT TO EXCEED $200.00; MAKING OTHER FINDINGS AND <br />PROVISIONS RELATED TO THE SUBJECT; REPEALING ALL <br />ORDINANCES OR PARTS OF ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH; <br />AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE OF MARCH 1, 2001. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City of Paris Traffic Commission is charged with the responsibility to study <br />and evaluate reasonable rates of speed on City streets and roadways; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Traffic Commission, at its regular meeting of February 6,2001, considered <br />and evaluated various suggestions and requests for the adjustment of maximum permissible speeds <br />at various locations throughout the city, and having done so found and determined that the <br />adjustment of maximum permissible speeds at certain locations and on certain streets and roadways <br />in the city is necessary to protect the health and safety and is in the best interests of the citizens of <br />the city of Paris, and have so recommended speed adjustments to the City Council of the City of <br />Paris; NOW, THEREFORE, <br /> <br />BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, PARIS, <br />TEXAS: <br /> <br />Section 1. That the findings set out in the preamble to this ordinance are hereby in all things <br />approved. <br /> <br />Section 2. That the following maximum, reasonable and prudent rates of speed shall be <br />established on those portions of the street hereinafter described: <br /> <br />On East Price Street, from the west curb line of 22nd Street N.E., east to the west <br />curb line of 25th Street N.E., a speed limit of twenty (20) miles per hour at all times. <br /> <br />Section 3. That any person violating any of the provisions of this ordinance shall be guilty <br />of a misdemeanor, and, upon conviction thereof shall be fined in any sum not to exceed $200.00. <br /> <br />Section 4. That all ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby <br />expressly repealed. <br /> <br />Section 5. That this ordinance shall become effective on March 1,2001. <br />
