<br />ORDINANCE NO. 2002-061

<br />AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS,
<br />PARIS, TEXAS, PROVIDING THAT THE CODE OF ORDINANCES, CITY
<br />OF PARIS, PARIS, TEXAS, BE AMENDED BY REVISING ARTICLES II
<br />AND IV OF CHAPTER 11 THEREOF; REPEALING SECTION 11-44,
<br />ELIMINATING THE REQUIREMENT FOR A BOND BY APPLICANTS
<br />FOR ELECTRICAL CONTRACTORS' LICENSES; REVISING SECTION
<br />11-91, PROVIDING FOR ADOPTION OF THE NATIONAL ELECTRICAL
<br />CODE, 2002 EDITION; REPEALING SECTION 11-92; MAKING OTHER
<br />FINDINGS AND PROVISIONS RELATED TO THE SUBJECT; PROVIDING
<br />FOR A PENALTY NOT TO EXCEED $2,000.00; REPEALING ALL
<br />ORDINANCES ORP ARTS OF ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH;
<br />AND DECLARING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.

<br />BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, PARIS,
<br />TEXAS:
<br />
<br />Section 1. That Section 11-44 of Chapter 11, Article II, of the Code of Ordinances of the
<br />City of Paris, Paris, Texas, be, and the same is hereby, repealed and declared of no further force and
<br />effect.
<br />
<br />Section 2. That Section 11-91 of Chapter 11, Article IV, of the Code of Ordinances of the
<br />City of Paris, Paris, Texas, be, and the same is hereby, amended so that such shall read as follows:
<br />
<br />"Sec. 11-91. National Electrical Code - Adoption
<br />
<br />II (a) For the purpose of practical safeguarding of persons and of buildings and
<br />their contents from hazards arising from the use of electricity for light, heat, power,
<br />radio, signaling, and for other purposes, that certain electrical code knows as the
<br />National Electrical Code, 2002 Edition, published by the National Fire Protection
<br />Association, save and except such portions as are deleted, modified, or amended by
<br />this article, is hereby adopted as the minimum standard for the city, and the same is
<br />hereby incorporated as fully as if set out at length herein. A copy of such code has
<br />been and is now on file in the office of the City Clerk, and the provisions thereof
<br />shall be controlling in the installation of all electrical wiring, devices, and equipment
<br />within the corporate limits ofthe city.
<br />
<br />"(b) Any person violating any of the provisions of this section shall be guilty of
<br />a misdemeanor and, upon conviction, shall be fined in any sum not to exceed two
<br />thousand dollars ($2,000.00), and each and every day's continuance of any violation
<br />of the above enumerated section shall constitute and be deemed a separate offense."
