I ORDINANCE NO. 2002-063 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, PARIS, TEXAS, AMENDING SECTION 34-24(a) OF CHAPTER 34 OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF PARIS TO CLARIFY THE METHODOLOGY FOR CALCULATING CHARGES FOR W ASTEW A TER SERVICE FOR CUSTOMERS WHO DO NOT RECEIVE WATER SERVICE FROM THE CITY OF PARIS; MAKING OTHER FINDINGS AND PROVISIONS RELATED TO THE SUBJECT; AND DECLARING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, the City Council desires to clarify the basis for charging for wastewater service to those customers who do not receive water service from the City; and, WHEREAS, the City Council desires to clarify such policy to assure that such customers located within the city of Paris are charged for such wastewater service on the basis of their water consumption; and, WHEREAS, the City Council finds and determines that such amendment to the Code of Ordinances would be in the best interests of all of the citizens of the city of Paris and is necessary to protect the public safety, health, and welfare; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, PARIS, TEXAS: Section 1. That the findings set out in the preamble to the ordinance are hereby in all things approved. Section 2. That Section 34-24(a) of Chapter 34 of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Paris, Texas, shall be and is hereafter amended to read as follows: "Sec. 34-24. Same - For customers not using City water. (a) Except as otherwise provided in this Section, wastewater service to customers who do not receive water service from the City shall be billed monthly in accordance with Section 34-23 of this ordinance, based on consumption information obtained from their water supplier. " Section 3. That the terms and provisions of this ordinance shall be applied beginning with the November 2002 billing cycle for wastewater service.
