<br />RESOLUTION NO. 2001-073 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, <br />PARIS, TEXAS, ENDORSING THE COOPERATIVE APPLICATION OF <br />VARIOUS VISITORS GROUPS TO UPDATE AND REVITALIZE THE <br />LAKES TRAIL REGION, UNDER THE TEXAS TRAVEL TRAILS <br />REGIONAL PROGRAM OFFERED THROUGH THE TEXAS mSTORICAL <br />COMMISSION; MAKING OTHER FINDINGS AND PROVISIONS <br />RELATED TO THE SUBJECT; DECLARING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, tourism development throughout Texas is an important priority and a <br />significant aspect of economic development today; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the State of Texas, through the Texas Historical Commission, is reviving the <br />Texas Travel Trails Regional Program, which includes 10 regions; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Dallas/Fort Worth Area Tourism Council has accepted the responsibility <br />to be the coordinating agency for the Lakes Trail Region application, in cooperation with other <br />organizations throughout the region, such as the Red River Valley Tourism Association, Main <br />Street Project Managers, and County Historical Commissions; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Paris Visitors and Convention Council is an active member of the <br />Dallas/Fort Worth Area Tourism Council, the Red River Valley Tourism Association, and the <br />Paris Main Street Project Advisory Board; NOW, THEREFORE, <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, PARIS, <br />TEXAS: <br /> <br />Section 1. That the findings set out in the preamble to this resolution are hereby in all <br />things approved. <br /> <br />Section 2. That the City Council of the City of Paris endorses the cooperative application <br />of various visitors groups for approval to update and revitalize the Lakes Trail Region, under the <br />Texas Travel Trails Regional Program offered through the Texas Historical Commission. <br /> <br />Section 3. That this resolution shall be effective from and after its date of passage. <br /> <br />PASSED AND APPROVED this 11th day of June, 2001. <br /> <br />
