<br />RESOLUTION NO. 200] -005 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, <br />PARIS, TEXAS, APPROVING AND AUTHORIZING AN AMENDMENT <br />AND REVISION TO THE REGIONAL CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE <br />APPREHENSION PROGRAM GRANT TO ACKNOWLEDGE A WAIVER <br />OF CASHMA TCH ON BEHALF OF RED RIVER COUNTY AND THE CITY <br />OF CLARKSVILLE; AUTHORIZING THE EXECUTION OF ANY AND ALL <br />DOCUMENTS RELATED TO SAID WAIVERS; APPROVING AND <br />AUTHORIZING A SUPPLEMENTAL GRANT APPLICATION COVER <br />SHEET; MAKING OTHER FINDINGS AND PROVISIONS RELATED TO <br />THE SUBJECT; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Paris did heretofore, on the 9th day of <br />December, 1999, in Resolution No. 99-140, authorize an application to be made to the Office of the <br />Governor, Criminal Justice Division, for the Texas Narcotics Control Program (TNCP) grant; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Office of the Governor, Criminal Justice Division, issued its grant award <br />entitled "Regional Controlled Substance Apprehension Program" grant, No. DB-00-A10-13854-02 <br />for the period beginning June 1,2000, and ending May 31,2001, in the total amount of $449, 100.00, <br />requiring a matching contribution of $149,700.00 in the form of cash; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Paris deemed it in the best interests of the <br />citizens of Paris that the City of Paris accept said grant award and continue to suppress drug activity <br />in and around the City of Paris, and thereby adopted Resolution No. 2000-072 on June 12,2000, <br />accepting the aforesaid Regional Controlled Substance Apprehension Grant; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, since the aforesaid approval, the City of Paris has been advised that, pursuant <br />to state and federal guidelines, Red River County and the City of Clarksville, participants in the <br />aforesaid program, have been classified as economically disadvantaged and have qualified for and <br />received a waiver for the present grant year (2000/2001) ofthe cash contributions to be made by the <br />aforesaid entities to the overall program, said waived cash contributions to be assumed by the grantor <br />Texas Narcotics Control Program, with the total cash match so waived for the two entities being <br />$49,900.00; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Paris further deems it to be in the best interests <br />of the citizens of Paris to approve and acknowledge the aforesaid waiver of cash match on behalf of <br />Red River County and the City of Clarksville in the total amount of $49,900.00; NOW, <br />THEREFORE, <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, PARIS, <br />TEXAS: <br /> <br />Section 1. That the findings set out in the preamble to this resolution are hereby in all things <br />approved. <br />
