RESOLUTION 1V0. 2008-103 <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, TEXAS <br />APPROVING AND AUTHORIZING A TRAINING REIMBURSEMENT <br />AGREEMENT FOR NEW POLICE OFFICER RECRUITS AND FIREFIGHTER <br />RECRUITS; MAKING OTHER FINDINGS AND PROVISIONS RELATED TO <br />THE SUBJECT; AND DECLARING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. <br />WHEREAS, the City of Paris incurs substantial costs and expenses in the process of <br />re ruiting, testing, training, investigating, and equipping new police officer recruits and <br />fir fighter recruits for the Paris Police Department and Paris Fire Department, including <br />b t not limited to payment of tuition, books, equipment, testing, salary and benefits and <br />ot er expenses; and, <br />WHEREAS, the City cannot realistically recover its investment in the new police and <br />ter employees if they do not work for the City of Paris for at least three years; and, <br />WHEREAS, it is deemed appropriate the new probationary police officers and <br />pr bationary firefighters that require training and certification before they are able to <br />w rk in the Police or Fire Departments of the City of Paris be required to sign a Training <br />R'mbursement Agreement, in a form substantially equivalent to the form attached hereto <br />as Exhibit "A". <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />P RIS, TEXAS, THAT: <br />Section 1. The findings set out in the preamble to this resolution are hereby in <br />all ithings approved. <br />Section 2. New probationary police officers and probationary firefighters <br />of red employment with the City of Paris from and after the effective date of this <br />Re olution, that do not possess the appropriate state certification for sworn police officers <br />an certified firefighters and that will require training at City expense be required to sign a <br />Tr ining Reimbursement Agreement with the City in a form substantially equivalent to the <br />fo m attached hereto as Exhibit A. <br />Section 3.
