<br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS,
<br />PARIS, TEXAS, ACCEPTING THE VIOLENT CRIMES AGAINST WOMEN
<br />UNIT GRANT NO. WF-02-V30-13420-05; AUTHORIZING THE
<br />EXECUTION OF THE GRANTEE ACCEPTANCE NOTICE; MAKING
<br />OTHER FINDINGS AND PROVISIONS RELATED TO THE SUBJECT;
<br />AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
<br />
<br />WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Paris did heretofore, on the 12th day of
<br />November, 2001, in Resolution No. 2001-182, authorize an application to be made to the Office
<br />ofthe Governor, Criminal Justice Division, through the Ark-Tex Council of Governments for the
<br />Violence Against Women Act grant; and,
<br />
<br />WHEREAS, the Office of the Governor, Criminal Justice Division, has issued its Grant
<br />Award entitled "Violent Crimes Against Women Unit" Grant, No. WF-02- V30-13420-05, for the
<br />period beginning December 1, 2002, and ending August 31, 2003, in the total amount of
<br />$58,946.00, requiring a matching contribution of $19,649.00 in in-kind services; and,
<br />
<br />WHEREAS, acceptance ofthe same must occur within forty-five (45) days of the date of
<br />said award, which occurred on September 26,2002; and,
<br />
<br />WHEREAS, it is deemed to be in the best interests of the citizens of Paris that the City
<br />of Paris accept said Grant Award and continue to improve the Violent Crimes Against Women
<br />Unit Project in the City of Paris; NOW, THEREFORE,
<br />
<br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, PARIS,
<br />TEXAS:

<br />Section 1. That the findings set out in the preamble to this resolution are hereby in all
<br />things approved.
<br />
<br />Section 2. That the "Violent Crimes Against Women Unit" Grant, No. WF-02-V30-
<br />13420-05, for the period beginning December 1, 2002, and ending August 31,2003, in the total
<br />amount of $58,946.00, requiring a matching contribution of $19,649.00 in in-kind services, be,
<br />and the same is hereby, accepted, and the City Council of the City of Paris does hereby assure the
<br />Criminal Justice Division that, in the event of loss or misuse of grant funds, such funds will be
<br />returned to the Criminal Justice Division in full.
<br />
<br />Section 3. That the City Manager be, and he is hereby, authorized and directed to execute,
<br />on behalf of the City of Paris, the Grantee Acceptance Notice, under the terms and conditions and
<br />in the form shown in Exhibit A, attached hereto.

<br />Section 4. That this resolution shall be effective from and after its date of passage.
