<br />RESOLUTION NO. 2002-143 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, <br />PARIS, TEXAS, AUTHORIZING THE EXECUTION OF A <br />SUPPLEMENTAL APPLICATION FOR AN AUTOMOBILE THEFT <br />PREVENTION GRANT; AUTHORIZING THE EXECUTION OF ANY AND <br />ALL DOCUMENTS NECESSARY FOR ACCEPTANCE AND <br />IMPLEMENTATION OF SAID GRANT UPON NOTICE THEREOF; <br />MAKING OTHER FINDINGS AND PROVISIONS RELATED TO THE <br />SUBJECT; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Paris did heretofore, on the 13th day of May, <br />2002, in Resolution No. 2002-078, authorize the application, and subsequent acceptance thereof, <br />to be made to the Texas Automobile Theft Prevention Authority for an Automobile Theft <br />Prevention Grant; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City of Paris has been made aware that the Texas Automobile Theft <br />Prevention Authority has additional funding available for automobile theft prevention grants; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Paris is desirous of processing a supplemental <br />grant application for the Automobile Theft Prevention Grant entitled "Northeast Texas Automobile <br />Theft Task Force" project beginning September 1, 2002, and ending August 31, 2003, in the <br />amount of $25,000.00, with no match required by the City of Paris, for the purchase of a truck <br />and radio for use by the Automobile Theft Task Force; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City Council desires to authorize the Mayor, City Manager, Police Chief, <br />and other appropriate City staff to accept and implement said supplemental grant (if same is <br />received) without further action of City Council; NOW, THEREFORE, <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, PARIS, <br />TEXAS: <br /> <br />Section 1. That the findings set out in the preamble to this resolution are hereby in all <br />things approved. <br /> <br />Section 2. That a supplemental grant application be made to the Texas Automobile Theft <br />Prevention Authority for an Automobile Theft Prevention Grant entitled "Northeast Texas <br />Automobile Theft Task Force" project beginning September 1, 2002, and ending August 31, 2003, <br />in the amount of $25,000.00, with no match required by the City of Paris. <br /> <br />Section 3. That the City Manager be, and he is hereby, appointed as the Authorized <br />Official of said project and is authorized and directed to execute, on behalf of the City of Paris, <br />the application for grant. <br />
