2002-143-RES AUTHORIZE EXECUTION OF SUPPLEMENTAL APPLICATION FOR AUTOMOBILE THEFT PREVENTION GRANT

RESOLUTION NO. 2002-143 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, PARIS, TEXAS, AUTHORIZING THE EXECUTION OF A SUPPLEMENTAL APPLICATION FOR AN AUTOMOBILE THEFT PREVENTION GRANT; AUTHORIZING THE EXECUTION OF ANY AND ALL DOCUMENTS NECESSARY FOR ACCEPTANCE AND IMPLEMENTATION OF SAID GRANT UPON NOTICE THEREOF; MAKING OTHER FINDINGS AND PROVISIONS RELATED TO THE SUBJECT; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Paris did heretofore, on the 13th day of May, 2002, in Resolution No. 2002-078, authorize the application, and subsequent acceptance thereof, to be made to the Texas Automobile Theft Prevention Authority for an Automobile Theft Prevention Grant; and, WHEREAS, the City of Paris has been made aware that the Texas Automobile Theft Prevention Authority has additional funding available for automobile theft prevention grants; and, WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Paris is desirous of processing a supplemental grant application for the Automobile Theft Prevention Grant entitled "Northeast Texas Automobile Theft Task Force" project beginning September 1, 2002, and ending August 31, 2003, in the amount of $25,000.00, with no match required by the City of Paris, for the purchase of a truck and radio for use by the Automobile Theft Task Force; and, WHEREAS, the City Council desires to authorize the Mayor, City Manager, Police Chief, and other appropriate City staff to accept and implement said supplemental grant (if same is received) without further action of City Council; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, PARIS, TEXAS: Section 1. That the findings set out in the preamble to this resolution are hereby in all things approved. Section 2. That a supplemental grant application be made to the Texas Automobile Theft Prevention Authority for an Automobile Theft Prevention Grant entitled "Northeast Texas Automobile Theft Task Force" project beginning September 1, 2002, and ending August 31, 2003, in the amount of $25,000.00, with no match required by the City of Paris. Section 3. That the City Manager be, and he is hereby, appointed as the Authorized Official of said project and is authorized and directed to execute, on behalf of the City of Paris, the application for grant.
